What we do at the door
A break-in leaves two problems: a door that may not lock, and keys that may be in someone else’s hands.

- The lock
- A forced cylinder or a snapped deadbolt is replaced, not rekeyed.
- The frame
- If the strike or wood split, we tell you if a carpenter is needed.
- Other doors
- If keys were taken, every door they open should be rekeyed.
- Lockable tonight
- The first goal is a door you can lock before you sleep.
What to do before we arrive
In this order, so nothing is changed before it is recorded.

Right away
- If anyone could be inside, leave and call 911
- Report it to Toronto Police and note the report number
- Take photos of the door, frame and lock first

Then call us
- We secure the door and change the damaged locks
- Rekey every door if keys were taken
- Ask for a written note of the work for your insurer
The price per lock is set on the call. ID and address come before the door is opened. How a lock change goes
Questions
What should I do first after a break-in?
Leave if anyone could be inside and call 911. Report it to police, take photos, then call us.
Is a rekey enough or do I need new locks?
Replace any lock that was damaged. If only keys were stolen, rekeying every door is usually enough.
Can you make my door lock tonight?
That is the first goal. If the frame needs more work, we make it lockable for now and explain the rest.
Will you give me something for my insurance?
Ask the technician for a written note of what was damaged and replaced, with the date.
